Kisii County commissioner Chege Mwangi has warned that security officers in the county who are sleeping on the job risk losing their jobs.
He said the officers should up their game to ensure that Kisii county residents are safe from attacks.
During an interview on Wednesday, Mwangi said there has been a rise in insecurity in the county in the recent past especially in Mwembe and Menyinkwa estates.
The county commissioner wondered why a businessman was recently robbed at gun point at Menyinkwa yet there is a police station nearby.
“We are telling our police officers who are not ready to protect wananchi from being attacked by criminals to pack their things and go. We are already working on modalities to ensure that those who were on duty at the areas affected will be punished as per the regulations set by the law,” said Chege.
The county commissioner, who is also the chairman of the county security committee, added that they are not going to allow wananchi to be killed in cold blood by a gang of criminals while police relax in their comfort zones.
He said the county security intelligence and security committee was meeting on a weekly basis in a bid to ensure that the situation is brought to normalcy.
