Equity Bank – Limuru Branch Manager Isaac Mwaura acknowledged that there are 15 beneficiaries out of the 102 who applied for the Equity Wings to Fly 2015 sponsorship.
Mwaura was speaking during a function which was also attended by the area MP John Kiragu, Limuru sub-county education officer Claris Mwita and sub-county county commissioner David Kiprop to recognise the ‘Wings to Fly’ beneficiaries held outside the Limuru Equity bank.
MP Kiragu said that the beneficiaries did the area proud by performing very well and qualifying for the sponsorship. He also urged other students to work harder to qualify for the same.
“I am happy that you all scored over 350 marks that was needed to qualify for the sponsorship. I urge you to work even harder in high school, excel and attain your ambitions and dreams in life,” said MP Kiragu.
Mwita told the children their continued sponsorship through high school depends on their performance and good behaviour.
“I urge you to be and remain highly disciplined in school and also work hard to ensure you maintain the high grades you attained in primary school to continue enjoying the bank's education sponsorship,” said Mwita.
DCC Kiprop on his part advised the beneficiaries to keep off alcohol and drug abuse, saying that getting involved in such will not only interfere with their education, but also ruin their lives.
The beneficiaries are to attend a three day seminar at the Safaricom Kasarani Stadium beginning this Friday. The meeting will be attended by Equity Bank CEO Dr. James Mwangi and President Uhuru Kenyatta.
