Elected leaders have been asked to serve their electorates better and create job opportunities to the youths who are still grappling with unemployment.
The call was made by politician and the Water Summit chairman Dr Vincent Gichuru Gaitho on Tuesday when he addressed Kamwangi residents in Gatundu North.
"I would like to appeal to my fellow leaders in Gatundu North to think much about the unemployed youths. We need to see them being given contracts to work on various projects," said Gaitho.
Gichuru also decried the poor state of roads in the area are which he said could be of much benefit to the residents who are mainly farmers if well maintained.
"Our roads need upgrading especially like now that the rains are on. We are tea, coffee and milk farmers," added Gaitho.
He said: "The road from Kang'oo to Kamwangi is very bad while the road to Mataara, Ng'ethu, Maria-ini, Gachege are all in a sorry state. We need to see some serious work on them as this is where the country's wealth is coming from," he said.
