Ndarugo Ward rep Samuel Komu and politician Charles Kanyiri from Gatundu South have called for the strengthening of the NIS saying the country is falling to terror attacks because of poor intelligence gathering.

The leaders proposed that there be an NIS officer in every village across the country.

"When we hear cases of terrorism or people have died of the vice, we think it is a thing that happens far away. It has now come to us, it is real and we need to up our game by stationing an NIS officer in every village," said Kanyiri.

Komu called for a proper monitoring of the North Eastern region counties’ leaders, who he says are not oblivious of the happenings in the region.

"Our colleagues and leaders in these counties may know what we don't know. They have even been quoted saying that they will name the financers and sympathisers of these terrorists. Let's question them more," he added.

They were speaking in Wanugu Village in Ndarugo Ward when they visited the family of Angela Nyokabi, a student and a victim of the Garissa attack.
