Leaders across the political divide have sent their condolences to the families of those who perished in the plane crash in Lake Nakuru on Saturday morning.
Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko led political leaders in sending his condolence messages. Sonko said he was deeply saddened by the death of the five young Kenyans that has left the nation in shock.
"I was personally known to the pilot who has flown me on many occasions, a truly dedicated serviceman who served this great nation selflessly," Sonko said.
The Nairobi governor said some of the victims have been personal friends for a long time, and were true patriots and dedicated servants of the people.
He described the deceased as ardent supporters of President Uhuru Kenyatta who worked tirelessly in the last and the ongoing campaigns.
The chopper came down at 7am moments after leaving Jarika Hotel, Nakuru.
Among those who perished are Anthony Kipyegon, Sammy Gitau, John Mapozi, Apollo Malowa (pilot) and Veronicah Kamau.Three of them were members of Nakuru Senator Susan Kihika's media team.Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyanjui also condoled with the families and friends.
Kinyanjui said the loss of the five Kenyans was a big blow to the youth of this country. Nakuru Woman Rep Liza Chelule expressed optimism that the recovery exercise will be fruitful.Other leaders who sent their condolences include MPs David Gikaria (Nakuru East), Samuel Arama (Nakuru West) and Jayne Kihara (Naivasha).
