Leaders from Rift Valley have dismissed opposition leader Raila Odinga calls to have residents boycott products.
They have termed the sentiments as reckless.
Led by Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago, they asked Raila to safeguard his legacy by retiring from politics.
“We are calling on Kenyans of goodwill to ignore sentiments attributed to Nasa leader calling on citizens to boycott goods and services offered by companies affiliated to Jubilee Party leaders,” he said.
The governor said all leaders from the cosmopolitan region have resolved to preach peace and unity and “will evade the trap being set by the Nasa leader through his outbursts”.
He was speaking at a press conference in Eldoret town, the leaders who included Uasin Gishu senator Margaret Kamar, her Nandi counterpart Samson Cherargei, MPs William Chepkut (Ainabkoi), Oscar Sudi (Kapseret), Caleb Kositany (Soy), Janet Rotich (Turbo) and Swarup Mishra (Kesses), they urged Raila to tone down on divisive politics to save the country from heightened political temperatures.
