Kisumu senator Fred Outa and Nyakach MP Aduma Owuor clashed on Friday during the burial of Arch Bishop Silas Owiti the founder of the Voice of Salvation and Healing Church.
The two leaders engaged in a war of words over who was to succeed Kisumu Governor Anyang' Nyong'o.
It all started when the furious Nyakach MP refused to greet the senator and told him off that he would not sit back seeing the senator jeopardizing the county government.
“Whoever you are, whether a senator or any other leader, and think you can meddle in the county affairs, we will face you head on,” Aduma said.
When Outa rose to speak, he said he was the automatic successor of Governor Nyong'o and he has a big stake at the county government.
“I am fully part of this county government, and I have an MoU with Nyong’o that when he leaves office, I will replace him. It does not matter when,” Outa said.
Outa has oftenly been accused of fueling wrangles in the county government inorder to position himself strategically for him to win the 2022 gubernatorial elections.
Outa maintained that he would not be distracted from conducting his senatorial duties by people who did not support Governor Nyong'o.
“We all know all the leaders who were in the other camp (former Governor Jack Ranguma allies) and did not root for the election of Nyong’o. Please keep off this government because we will not allow you to harvest where you did not sow,” he said.
The Kisumu county speaker accused top officials in the Nyong'o administration for abetting corruption.
Also present at the funeral were former Kisumu Governor, Jack Ranguma, Kisumu deputy governor Mathews Owili, Nyando MP Jared Okelo and nominated senator Rose Nyamunga.
Owili was accused of ruining Nyong'os legacy (who is in the US undergoing treatment) with run away corruption and called for his resignation.
