Kenyans joined the family of the late Nyeri Governor Wahome Gakuru in mourning the legislator following his sudden death on Tuesday, November 7.

Gakuru had been traveling in his vehicle to Nairobi accompanied by his personal assistant, his bodyguard, and driver when a tyre burst, leading into a freak accident. 

The vehicle crashed into a rail guard that pierced the length of the vehicle, also piercing the late politician in the stomach.

 The accident occurred in Kabati area in Murang'a county. He passed away while receiving treatment at the Thika Level 5 Hospital and the body was flown to Nairobi then transferred to the Lee Funeral Home. 

Among politicians who headed to the funeral home included Deputy President William Ruto,Rarieda MP Atiende Omollo Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu, Nairobi Deputy Governor Polycarp Igathe among others.

President Uhuru Kenyatta in a tweet also sent his condolences

"My family and I, and the National Government send our deepest condolences and sympathies to the late Gov. Gakuru’s family, Nyeri constituents"
