President Uhuru Kenyatta has held bilateral talks with US secretary of state John Kerry.
Kerry arrived in the country on Sunday evening and was received by foreign affairs cabinet secretary Amina Mohamed at the Jomo Kenyatta international airport.
The visiting US secretary of state met the president at State House on Monday morning where they discussed issues around regional security and stability.
The two leaders have specifically discussed issues surrounding stabilisation of Kenya's northern neighbour south Sudan, which is dealing with recent upheaval.
Kerry also inquired about developments in Somalia and Burundi.
Kerry's visit cements the continued engagement between Kenya and the united states at a very senior level, a year after the visit to our country by President Barack Obama.
President Kenyatta and Kerry have also taken stock of the bilateral relations between the two countries a year on.
