Leaders in Tana River County have differed over the repeat presidential election slated for Thursday, October 26. Tana River Governor Dhadho Godhana of ODM received criticism from a section of leaders in the county after announcing that residents will not take part in the repeat poll.Senator Juma Wario (Jubilee) and Women Rep Rehema Hassan (Maendeleo Chap Chap) differed with the Governor and instead said that residents will turn out in large numbers to ensure President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto are guaranteed another term in office following the nullification of the presidential results by the Supreme Court."I don't see elections being held," said Godhana during the Mashujaa Day celebrations on Friday. On her part, Hassan asked residents not to allow politicians to use them for their own selfish needs and urged them to ensure they turn out in large numbers on Thursday to exercise their democratic right."Do not be cheated to remain at home ... go and vote peacefully and return to your homes," she said. The opposition NASA coalition has threatened to hold countrywide demonstrations on October 26, the day of the repeat poll.
