Leaders of Bungoma County have called on Inspector General Joseph Boinett to reshuffle law enforcement officers in the county.
Led by Governor Wycliffe Wangamati, the leaders said that some of the police officers had been compromised and were now the reason why the county was grappling with security issues.
''We are calling on the Inspector General Joseph Boinett to transfer the officers in this county because they are now compromised. They are contributing to insecurity here,'' the governor said.
His position was seconded by Kimilili Member of Parliament Didmus Barasa, revealing that 68 people had been killed by criminals in Mount Elgon.
''Action has to be taken quickly. This cannot be allowed to continue,'' the MP said.
The two leaders were speaking during the burial of a Bungoma resident killed by criminals.
