Nairobi County Assembly speaker Beatrice Elachi has called upon leaders to come together and help end the political violence in Kawangware.
Elachi said that the destruction of property witnessed in the areas of Gatina, Kawangware and Kabiro were uncalled for and urged young people to exercise restraint over public and private property.
She called upon local politicians to intervene.
"There is a lot of violence in these areas. A woman was raped yesterday and shops were burnt," she said.
"We need to go out and speak to our young people in these areas. We need to agree to live together peacefully," Elachi added.
On Friday evening, police were forced to intervene as two rival gangs confronted each other in the area in an incident that saw shops and residential houses burnt down.
