Leaders across the county are continuing to send their messages of condolences to the family and friends of the late Eldoret Catholic diocese Arch Bishop Cornelius Korir.

Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago described Korir as a humble, God fearing and a straightforward leader who advocated for peace.

"On behalf myself, family and people of Uasin Gishu I want to send my heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of the deceased. May the Lord give you strength during this hard time," he said during Bishop Korir's mass, Thursday.

"Bishop Korir served Kenyans equality no matter their tribal and political affiliations. Whoever will take over should replicate his leadership," added Deputy President William Ruto aide Farouk Kibet.

"Bishop helped us bring peace in Elgeyo Marakwet border, may his soul rest in eternal peace,” said the former Marakwet East member of parliament Linah Chebii Kilimo.

Pakistan Ambassador Julius Bittok eulogized Bishop Korir as his personal friend who offered him advice whenever he had a problem.

“Korir helped over 10,000 post-election violence victims where he fed them and offered surely he was a man who championed for peace. Bishop was humble and always used a low tone,” said former Minister Henry Kosgey.

“Bishop was above all tribal divides he steered for peace. He said what is right no matter the consequence. We will give Bishop a state burial,” said Energy Cabinet Secretary Charles Keter.
