Cord leader Raila Odinga and his Amani coalition counterpart Musalia Mudavadi have been challenged to work together ahead of 2017 polls.
Former Nairobi Mayor George Aladwa, former Makadara MP Reuben Ndolo , Simba Arati of Dagorreti North and Kilifi Women Representative Aisha Juma led the calls during televised COTU prayers on Sunday in Nairobi.
“I want to challenge my brother Musalia and Raila to come together so that we can form a formidable coalition ahead of 2017. You have worked together before and I don’t see any reason why you should not reunite again,” said Mr Aladwa.
“We need the people of Luhya nation to unite so that we don’t make a mistake of splitting western Kenya votes. We have to rescue the people of Kenya from maladministration and bad governance and that can be done if they unite,” he added.
Mr Arati and Ndolo were also unanimous that the two meet and iron out their past differences for the sake of coming up with a winning team.
“My brother Musalia is a bit young and our wish is that he swallows his ambitions in favour of Raila this time round and I know Raila will give the same hand back in 2022,” Arati said.
Ms Juma on her part challenged Mr Odinga to form a coalition with like-minded Kenyans to push for equity and positive economic growth.
“Our country needs people like Raila to push for equity and progressive growth. We call upon all like-minded Kenyans to join our team as we find the best way forward,” she said.
However Odinga and Mudavadi avoided the topic during their short speeches with Raila challenging the Jubilee government to start a reconciliation process across the country as a method of healing post-election violence wounds among the victims.
