North Mugirango MP Joash Nyamoko stated that it is not time the country should go into a referendum just because one or two people want to be in the government if they will elections in 2022.

He regretted that most of the elected MPs from the region pushing for the constitutional changes are those who have done nothing in their areas of administration 9 months after they won the elections.

"I am not happy with a section of Gusii MPs who are pushing for changes to be made in the constitution because the same funds which will be used to conduct a referendum should be used to improve our roads," he said.

The lawmaker urged local leaders from Nyamira region to distance themselves from pushing for the constitutional changes and concentrate on serving the electorates.

"The electorates elected us with hopes that we will serve them dearly but now some politicians have opted to start demanding for a referendum something that the electorates were not expecting from us.

"Let us focus improving the livelihoods of our people before we go into the ballot in 2022," he noted.
