Leaders and business people in Laikipia raised close to Sh1.5 million on Saturday night to aid President Uhuru Kenyatta's campaigns in the region.

The leaders led by deputy governor John Mwaniki said the money will help Jubilee traverse the county as poll date nears.

"The money will enable campaign teams traverse the county with ease," said Mwaniki.

He added that leaders will ensure a massive voter turnout during the repeat polls.

"By going to every place in Laikipia, we will ensure the more than 38,000 residents who failed to cast their votes in August do so this time round," he said.

The business community, politicians and elders attended the fundraiser that was held in Nyahururu town.
