Leaders and residents of Kamuthwa location in Mwala Constituency on Monday raised a total of Sh1.5 million in a bid to revive Ngumbau Secondary School.
The school has been closed down for three years down due to lack of resources to support the students and lack of enough teachers.
This happened after the town council system was abolished which led to lack of sponsors.
Mwala town council was the main sponsor of Ngumbau secondary school.
The residents together with area leaders lead by the Kibaoni Member of County Assembly (MCA), Mutua Ngunzi, on Monday held a fund raising in the institution.
Speaking during the ceremony, Ngunzi promised to support education in the school by first paying four teachers employed by parents association in the next four months.
“My leadership will support education at all costs and I will personally provide a four-month salary for four PTA teachers who will be employed in the school to ensure students get quality education,” said Ngunzi
Mwala constituency leaders raised a total of Sh650,000 while the residents of Kamuthwa, Kibaoni and at large the Mwala Costituency raised a total of Sh900,000 in an effort to support free secondary education in the area.
Ngunzi further stated that the school is expected to start their intake immediately which is aimed at admitting more students from the area hence improving free education.
