On Thursday, Uhuru met Joho for the first time after the divisive 2017 polls that saw Joho lynch Jubilee brigade during campaigns.

"This is the time to forge ahead in a united country. Elections are now behind us let us work for the people," Joho said as he welcomed Uhuru to Mombasa.

Last year, deadly Recce Squad officers barred Joho from attending Uhuru's function in the county at least twice following his persistent jibes on Jubilee administration.

And ODM treasurer Timothy Bosire has since welcomed the move by his deputy leader adding that its a good gesture to political partnership.

"We sometimes dissgree on critical issues and there is nothing wrong for the two to reconcile. They have both shown maturity," said the former Kitutu Masaba MP.

And similar sentiments were shared by Nyamira assembly Majority Leader who asked Kenyans to bury their political differences.

"The handshake between Joho and Uhuru shows that politicians do not condone enmity. Our supporters should not allow divisions which emanate just out of mere opinions in politics."

Besides being barred from attending Uhuru's functions, Joho had also a series of cases pertaining his academic qualifications.

Further, for not less than four times, the state also withdrew his security details following altercation with the president.
