Considered as Raila Odinga's chief campaigner in South Nyanza, Ongwae's meeting with the country's second in command elicited sharp reactions online.

ODM treasurer Timothy Bosire said the meeting does not worry the party adding that the governor is at liberty to meet all leaders.

"I do not see anything wrong with that. Leaders can meet and discuss issues which affects the society. We should not speculate all the time," said the former Kitutu Masaba MP.

Youthful South Mugirango MP Sylvanus Osoro also defended the move adding that an inevitable paradigm shift in geopolitics looms in Gusii region.

"We expect more people to join Tanga Tanga movement soon. We have seen the light and this is unstoppable," he said.

Also in the meeting was deputy governor Joash Maangi, who apparently is a close lieutenant of the DP.
