Following the news of Kabete MP George Muchai’s shooting and eventual death, together with his driver and two aides at Nairobi's CBD, residents and leaders from Kiambu County and across the political divide have united in condoling the MP's family.

The CORD leader on his twitter handle (@RailaOdinga) said: "I wish the families of the late Mr Muchai and his aides, relatives and the people of Kabete God's strength and courage during this trying moment.”

Kiambu Governor William Kabogo wrote on his Facebook page: "It is with utter shock that we receive the sad news of the demise of Kabete constituency MP Hon George Muchai, his driver and two body guards. On behalf of myself my family and my government, I would like to send my heartfelt condolences to families and Kabete people.”

Hanna Gatheca Kiambu County MP told the media: "I want to pass my sincere condolences to the families of the late George Muchai and those of his drivers and bodyguards. It is truly very saddening.”

Kenyans are also sending their condolences on #RIPMuchai.

Muchai was allegedly shot at 3am near Nyayo House when he stopped to purchase newspapers.
