A section of Jubilee leaders from Nyanza have dismissed Kericho Governor Paul Chepkwony's decision to endorse Gideon Moi, terming the move as ill-advised.
In a shocking move on Sunday, Chepkwony, a second term governor, termed Mr. Moi a 'gentleman' and said nobody could coerce them against rejecting him.
But nominated MCA George Mosiori, in a local Nyamira WhatsApp group, said the governor controls 'little influence' in South Rift thus his move 'inconsequential'.
"The governor has a right to back anyone but let that not cause panic. He has little influence in politics and his decision is inconsequential," he said.
Similar sentiments were echoed by Rigoma MCA Ben Sirongo, who in turn said Moi's tactics in the South Rith will flop.
"We saw him trying last time by using former Bomet Governor. The truth is, they cannot defeat the DP in this game," added Sironga.
Also, Moi said he is currently holding talks with a number of South Rift leaders as he seeks to dethrone Ruto's dominance in the region.
