A section of leaders in Garissa county has expressed their support for the ongoing eviction of residents who have encroached ring road land in Garissa town.Led by Masalani ward representative Abubakar Mohammed, the leaders said residents have illegally put up structures on government land hence should be evicted.The MCA noted that county government of Garissa was only implementing resolutions reached by the County Assembly.Addressing the press in Garissa town, Mohammed said the county had already developed a plan for the land and asked locals to respect ongoing crackdown targeting illegal structures. He pointed out that the county needs proper planning and dared those opposed to the evictions to leave."Bickering over the land will only bring disharmony amongst residents. The county government is only implementing resolutions passed by the county assembly," Mohammed said."The process of planning Garissa Town is long overdue. The crackdown on illegal structures is not selective," he added.Bura MCA Abdulahi Omar on his part said locals were ready to support the initiative as it's meant to benefit them."Garissa town is growing fast without any proper roads and other social amenities which the government has promised to address," he said.
