A section of Jubilee leaders have condemned the recent kidnapping and killing of lawyer Willy Kimani, his client and a taxi driver saying the Inspector General of police should take a swift action to ensure justice is done to the victims.
Led by the deputy leader of majority in the senate and Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen, the leaders expressed concern that it was more worrying that the killings were perpetrated by elements of the police service that could easily be seen as the return of extra judicial killings in the country.
The Leaders who included Kericho Senator Aaron Cheruiyot, Maina Kamanda, Dennis Waweru, Rachel Nyamai among others said the police must take immediate action to stop increased cases of kidnappings in the city that now seem to be popular with criminals.
The leaders were speaking on Sunday at the St. Magdalene’s catholic church in Starehe constituency where they joined worshippers for a Sunday service and a fund raiser.
Murkomen pointed out that the team that was involved in the murders of the lawyer, his client and the taxi driver was bigger noting that the three officers who are now in custody of the crime were not alone as the magnitude of the crime was too big to be accomplished by three people.
“We are calling on Inspector General of police Joseph Boinett and the Director of Criminal Investigations Ndegwa Muhoro to arrest all those involved in the heinous crime in the shortest time possible so that justice can be done.” Mr. Murkomen said.
"It will not be business as usual, we expect that the Inspector General to take action within the next 7 days as we cannot sit and keep quiet when innocent people are being killed,” added Waweru.
Jubilee leaders have called for swift action from IG Boinet and Director of Criminal Investigations Ndegwa Muhoro to arrest those involved in the killing of Lawyer Kimani
