Leaders from the Coast region are organising a meeting where Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho is expected to unite with political opponents.
Former Kilifi North MP Gideon Mung'aro said on Sunday that there is no meaning for President Uhuru Kenyatta to meet and discuss matters of national importance with opposition leader Raila Odinga when leaders from the region cannot meet eye to eye.
He said Jubilee and NASA politics have extensively polarised the region.
"Let us not celebrate the unity between President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga when we cannot sit, talk and work together," Mung'aro said in Mombasa.
"We want to convene a meeting where Joho can shake hands with Suleiman Shahbal, Hassan Omar, and Gideon Mung'aro. That is the way to go if we are to develop Coast region," he added.
Joho since 2013 when Uhuru won the presidency has been Jubilee principle opponent in Coast.
The ODM deputy party leader is branded as the Coast political kingpin and speaks for the opposition in the region that greatly relies on tourism.
Mombasa Deputy Governor Dr William Kingi welcomed the idea saying that unity is the surest way to develop Mombasa and in extension, Kilifi, Kwale, Tana River, Lamu and Taita Taveta counties.
