Leaders in Kisii County have been cautioned against pretending that they are using their personal money to implement development projects while utilising taxpayers’ money.
According to Kisii County Deputy governor Joash Maangi, there are some elected leaders in the county government who were cheating local residents that the projects being implemented at the grassroots were being funded by their personal monies.
“Residents have the right to benefit from the projects because they are funded with their tax and not personal funds,” he added.
The deputy governor was speaking during a funds drive for Suneka Stars Football Club at Suneka primary school on Wednesday evening.
He warned that leaders should not go around while touring development projects and claim that the money was from their personal accounts but instead serve all residents without discrimination.
He called the area youths to take sports seriously as they would earn more from their talents.
“We all know how sports have made people improve their life’s and it good to ensure that we all work hard to nature our talents,” he added.
