Kisumu County Women Representative Rose Nyamunga has called upon elected leaders in Nyanza region to ensure their people register as voters.
Nyamunga said the process to register people for identity cards and voters’ card is ongoing across the region.
She said leaders should come out and rally their supporters who are missing the two vital documents to maximize on the opportunity.
The women rep said leaders must also facilitate the officers because they will be doing it outside their working stations.
“These officers are within the villages and now the leaders should facilitate their lunches and travelling so that our people, the old, thee sick can access the documents at the door step,” she said.
Nyamunga said Luo community always turns up in large numbers during rallies but fail to cast their votes to exercise their democratic right.
Speaking in Kisumu on Saturday when she visited a number of centres where registration is taking place in the county, Nyamunga said the exercise will be on going for a long time.
She said a voter’s card is very important and urged those who have acquired the card to always turn up during any democratic process to cast their votes.
Nyamunga said power is sweet and the Luo community should turn out and vote in large numbers if they want one of their own to ascent to power.
