They have also questioned the integrity of those behind the polls by Millesta Communication and Research Company.

Senatorial aspirant Fred Outa and gubernatorial counterparts Anyang' Nyong'o, Ruth Odinga and Hezron McObewa trashed the poll findings, saying they were only meant to divert their attention from campaigns which have started early.

The firm found in their January 9 to January 20 survey of some 850 residents that most aspirants stood little chance against incumbents, although senator Nyong'o is not defending his seat.

Professor Nyong'o who has formed a campaign pact with Outa in a bid to defeat Ranguma at the primaries is placed a distant second in ratings at 30.4 per cent chance against Governor Ranguma's 62.6 per cent. But Nyongo's ratings rose by about four cent from another survey by the same firm last year.

It showed that the Governor would bag more votes than Nyong'o in the senator's Seme backyard.

McObewa, whose manifesto revolves around transforming the lives of the lowest resident, had a low popularity of 4.1 per cent of 835 respondents saying they would vote him in. The rest of the candidates shared 2.8 per cent support.

Outa's senatorial bid had a 16.3 per cent popularity as former Tourism Executive Rose Kisia, 2013 Senate aspirant Ochola Ogoda and any other interested candidate shared 13.9 per cent support. Prof Nyong'o who is abandoning the seat would have a 69.7 per cent edge over his opponents, the findings showed.
