Nyamira leaders have been challenged to embrace public participation when launching projects in the region.
County Commissioner Isaiah Naikoru said the bold stop would minimise conflicts that occasion violent confrontations.
“We experienced hard times to ensure Bonyunyu dam project start because residents who were opposing the project were not fully informed.
"I am now urging leaders especially politicians to engage the people when they initiate any project across the county,” he said.
Nakoru said calm has returned in Bonyunyu area and locals will be sensitized about the controversial dam before the construction works start.
“Once sensitization program ends, construction of Bonyunyu dam will start because locals will be informed on the benefits of the project,” he added.
