Unlike other counties Kisii and Nyamira are believed to be having plenty of water but unfortunately for the last one week Kisii county was hit by water shortage.
Despite the rain falling almost every month the people have not come up with an idea of harvesting water for future use.
Speaking on Today community health officer Kepha King’oina said that measures should be put in place to help residents harvest water as a way to curb the shortage.
“It is quite unfortunately for residents to lack water due to disconnection of water, we need to come up with measures in place which will help us harvest and have enough water,” said Kingo’ina.
He further encouraged leaders to come up with initiatives which will help residents with tanks to be used for storage.
“The problem our residents have is how to get the tanks we hope that if the leaders can come up with initiatives of donating them to residents and even to schools we will have a lot of water when the dry spell knocks,” added King’oina.
In addition, he has urged residents to make sure they use the little tanks they have in harvesting water.
