The request was made by the area Sub-county Deputy Commissioner Makori Kodeck, who reiterated that the residents were fond of ignoring public functions organised by national government.

“I take this opportunity to call on local leadership of Mavoko Sub-county headed by the area member of parliament to in future help my office mobilise the public to attend public holidays,” said Kodeck.

Kodeck said all the passed public functions such as Jamhuri and Madaraka Days organised by his office with assistance from other government departmental heads had always flopped.

He said the events normally held at Mavoko Stadium in Athi River town always flopped since only children attended making him read President Uhuru Kenyatta to them just for formality.

The commissioner, who spoke at a function organized by the office of area MP in Athi River town on Friday, said he had never seen such a successful development function, in terms of organization and public attendance, organised in the area since his deployment in the region.

The area Member of Parliament, Patrick Makau, promised him that he had taken note of the request and his office will always be there for him whenever he needed any kind of support including public mobilization.

Makau said as a leader, he was working with both national and county governments of the day to provide services and improve livelihoods of his constituents.
