A Garissa cleric, Salim Mohamed has called upon the leaders of the country to avoid divisive politics saying they are not healthy for the nation.
He raised concern saying the trend in which leaders, especially prominent leaders, are conducting their politics is far from expected and if the trend continues then the nation is going to collapse. He added that the leaders should learn to tolerate one another despite their political differences and advocate for unity and not division.
“The leaders are there to lead and we respect their role but it becomes unfortunate when they use those positions given by Kenyans to further political intolerance and selfish personal interests,’’ he said.
He stated that Kenyans need one another as a nation to develop.
“We are all Kenyans and we should not allow politics to divide us but rather provide leadership based on different constructive opinions,’’ stated the cleric.
