Speaking to our reporter on Saturday in his office, James Kaka, who unsuccessfully run for the Menengai Ward county assembly seat in the last general elections observed that local leaders were only playing politics with the problem of youth unemployment but were not keen to solve it.

He argued that despite the many trips abroad and locally while meeting stakeholders and attending workshops and conferences using public resources, elected leaders including MCAs, Senators and MPs had done nothing to solve the problem of unemployment among the youth.

“Me as a youth and facing the same unemployment challenge, I have experience to say that our leaders are not keen on solving this problem. They are merely playing politics in the assembly and Parliament but have no ideas or interests of solving unemployment for our youths,” said Kaka.

He furhter added that most of the elected leaders are selfish and incompetent but got elected through dubious means.

According to the 34-year-old political aspirant and activist, many investors were willing to invest locally but there lacks a political will to encourage them. He said corruption and lack of innovations by local leaders was preventing investors while no legal frameworks to protect them were in place.
