Leaders who attended Miss Tourism Kenya 2016 final want the event to be used to unite Kenyans saying it brings people from different Counties, tribes and culture together.
Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto said it is through devolution that enabled all the counties to be present at the event.
“All the 42 tribes of Kenya are here. You cannot easily identify where one comes from because they are all together as one. So what else do we need other than money to keep devolution alive?,” Ruto said.
Also present during the event was Cord leader Raila Odinga, Water Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa, Mining Cabinet Secretary Dan Kazungu and Miss Tourism Kenya Director Alice Kamunge.
Mr Akaranga said the event aimed at enabling all the communities in the country to know each other and foster the spirit of one country.
“We must protect this nation jealously by having many forums such as this one because through such events we get to know each other.”
“Many counties attended the event that brought all of us together. This is a sign of unity that must be embraced at all times,” Mr Akaranga said.
Ms Kamunge said it is now up to the counties to live up to the challenge and promote tourism in their rural counties by hosting the event.
