Kisumu County government has been asked to allocate funds towards the purchase of condoms and education on the proper usage of condoms, and the importance of condom usage.
Speaking at a Kisumu hotel during the Kisumu Health Project on Tuesday, Nominated MCA Farida Salim asked the Health CeC Elizabeth Ogaje to enlighten the locals on the proper usage of the latex rubbers, and also the significance of using them.
Farida noted most of the locals lacked knowledge on the proper usage of condoms, leading to their bursts, resulting to unwanted pregnancies, and contracting infections.
She challenged the CeC to provide sensitization on better ways of condom usage to the locals, which would see them have protected intercourse, as very few were willing to abstain.
“Let us allocate funds in supporting the locals through education, as great numbers of the locals lacked proper knowhow on condom usage,” said Salim.
Lydia Odhiambo, another nominated MCA echoed similar sentiments, urging the CeC to allocate funds in sensitizing locals on better ways of using condoms.
