The Central Organization of Trade Unions (Cotu) secretary general Francis Atwoli has faulted Deputy President William Ruto, for 'lacking respect' to leaders and people from the Luhya community.
He said Ruto has been addressing luhya politicians and residents in disrespectful manner, by calling them 'nyinyi' (you).
Atwoli said it was bad for a leader like Ruto to address people from Western Kenya in such a manner, adding that it shows how 'useless' they are to him.
"How can a whole deputy president come to Western Kenya and address the people of luhya community without respect? Who calls the other 'you', and expect the same people to vote for him? Ruto should know how to address people and he should not disrespect our people anymore,'' warned Atwoli.
He also warned the DP against 'demanding' that luhya political leaders support his and Jubilee party's political ambitions.
"We luhyas we know how to go about politics. We know what is good for us. Nobody should come here and demand that we follow them,'' he added, Monday.
