Form one students at Gitugi Girls High School are all set to begin learning after officials from Kenya Literature Bureau delivered free textbooks as promised by the ministry of education.

The initiative which provides six textbooks per Form One student is seen as an equalizer in the education sector nationwide.

Kenya Literature Bureau Director Martin Mbau said that this is an exercise that will see all schools get six textbooks for core subjects at a ratio of one to one adding that this will be an equalizer in the education sector for all form one students nationwide.

Gitugi Girls Principal Esther Kirira lauded the gesture by the Government saying it will go a long way in improving the education standards across the country.

Sentiments echoed by Mathioya MP Peter Kimari who noted that students from underprivileged backgrounds will also greatly benefit.

Kimari said the free textbooks program will also be rolled out in form two, three, four and also in standard seven and eight.
