The Orange Democratic Movement leader Raila Odinga should cancel his planned trip to the vote rich region of western kenya since it ‘belittles’ him.
Raila’s tour comes days after two key leaders Budalang'i MP Ababu Namwamba and his Funyula counterpart Paul Otuoma relinquished their positions in the Orange party as secretary general and national vice chair respectively citing frustrations from top leadership.
And now Nyamira Majority Leader Laban Masira believes otherwise, and has urged Raila to cut short the trip since it would be equivalent to engaging himself with ‘junior’ politicians.
“I don’t see the reason why the former premier should set aside four days tour to western Kenya because that means he is fighting with junior politicians like Ababu. He is above that and my thinking remains that the trip is unnecessary,” he said.
“Going to western that soon means that he has been shaken by the exit of the two leaders who can’t actually influence the voting pattern in presidential race in 2017 polls. My advice is that we abandon the trip and divert it to other regions such as Rift Valley and Northern Kenya,” he added.
Masira expressed his confidence in Kakamega Senator Bonny Khalwale, Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula and Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya would deliver votes for the opposition leaders.
“Handling Ababu and the team should be left to us. Odinga cannot stoop that low to respond to junior people. Western Kenya is intact under Khalwale and Wetangula,” he said.
