Garissa political analyst, Joseph Meli has called upon the national government to stop harassing and intimidating the opposition.
He was speaking in Garissa town while interviewing him on his take about the parallel Madaraka Day celebrations Cord is planning to hold.
“It is time the government left the opposition alone. The work of the opposition is to ensure the government is at it toe and that is what Cord is doing,” he said.
We have seen what the government is doing since they staged demonstrations on the IEBC stalemate. He said Raila is a man who speaks his mind and condemns impunity.
“The government is only interested in frustrating the opposition for their outspoken nature especially when it comes to issues of corruption,” stated Meli.
The political analyst added that the government should not deny the opposition the right to use Uhuru Park which is a national resource and belongs to everybody including the opposition. They should, therefore, be allowed to use the facility.
“The government should concentrate on ensuring the government runs smooth and ensure they fulfil their promises not engaging the opposition in running battles,” he added.
