Kangundo MP Fabian Muli has asked leaders of the National Super Alliance (NASA) and Jubilee to desist from making unrealistic demands to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).

According to the lawmaker, the leaders of both factions are interfering with the operations of the commission, which is likely to influence the outcome of the October General elections.

He argued that the demands of both sides have become unrealistic, adding that they are dragging the nation behind when it comes to democracy.   He further called on both sides to table demands that can be met for the sake of developing this nation. He was speaking on Monday at his constituency when he took over office from former legislator Mutatha Maweu.

“Kenya is a third world, not first world, country. Let’s make demands that are practical to enable the IEBC to conduct a free, fair and credible repeat presidential election on October 26," Muli said, as quoted by Star.

He reminded the two sides that this nation will not be built on tribalism and egocentrism. The remarks of the lawmaker come at a time when the opposition has maintained that it will not take part in the election if its demands are not met.
