Deputy President William Ruto has accused Opposition coalition NASA leaders of interfering with the independence of the electoral agency IEBC.
Speaking on Monday during a political rally in Embu, Ruto challenged NASA to leave IEBC alone to conduct the forthcoming repeat polls as directed by the Supreme Court.
He further noted that NASA's 'irreducible minimums' were meant to plunge the country into a constitutional crisis.
"They want to precipitate a constitutional crisis so they can ascend to power through the backdoor, but we are telling them that will not happen," Ruto remarked.
On his part, President Uhuru Kenyatta asserted that the Opposition is not ready for the elections.
"They [opposition] have to decide whether they want to be the adjudicators or the candidates, because they cannot be both," the Head of State said.
Nasa has laid down a wide range of demands revolving around electoral reforms that they want met before agreeing to participate in the elections.
