IEBC is the organ allowed to count, tally, announce and declare general election results, the commission's chairman Wafula Chebukati has said in response to NASA's insistence of running a parallel tallying centre.

In a statement sent to newsrooms, the chair assured all players that his commission will fight to ensure that the elections outcome reflects the will of the electorate.

"We invite all actors to review the results management framework. By setting up the new integrated election management system, the commission shall guarantee greater transparency, accountability and auditability of the results," he said.

"Other actors including political parties will access the results within the established framework," Chebukati added.

On Sunday, NASA co-principal Raila Odinga announced that their coalition will do its own parallel counting and release the election results after the August 8 poll.
