Taking to his social media outlets, the governor hit out at a section of the media for saying he was on his way to resignation.

He termed the allegations as propaganda and asked the media to leave him alone as he serves Nairobians.

"Wacheni Propaganda ya pesa nane ati nataka KURESIGN. Uzeni news na story zenu wachaneni na mimi nifanye kazi," he posted on Twitter.

This translates as: "Stop cheap propaganda that I want to resign. Sell your news and other stories and leave me alone to do my work."

Earlier, Kibera residents had received the news of a probable resignation in different tones.

Some felt that Sonko was letting them down as they had sent him to work for the poor people of the slums and that stepping down was meant to come as betrayal.

However, another section from the slum that follows NASA opposition leader Raila Odinga welcomed the news and said he was reaping what he had 'sowed' during the election period when authorities allegedly became hostile to opposition supporters.
