Amani National Congress (ANC) party leader Wycliffe Musalia Mudavadi has been urged to go back to his Western Kenya backyard and lead the voter registration mobilization.
Hamisi Member of Parliament Charles Gumini Gimose now wants Mudavadi to ensure Western region registers a high number of voters before the deadline slated for February 14th.
Speaking in Vihiga County on Monday, Gimose said that the former Deputy Premier should borrow a leaf from President Uhuru Kenyatta and Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party leader Raila Odinga who have pinched camp in their Central and Nyanza backyards respectively, urging their followers to register as voters.
“As we speak, President Kenyatta has left State house and Mr. Odinga has left his Karen home in Nairobi and are in Central and Nyanza respectively calling on their supporters to come out and register as voters. I want to invite Mudavadi to come and help us urge residents of Western to register as voters,” said the Mp.
His sentiments were echoed by Vihiga governor Reverend Moses Akaranga. The governor urged boda boda operators not to carry passengers who are yet to register as voters.
The voter registration exercise that started on January 16 will end on the 15th of next month. The independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) is targeting to register 6 million new voters.
