Speaking during his Kiminini counterpart Chris Wamalwa's homecoming ceremony in Kiminini, Trans Nzoia county on Saturday, the young lawmaker urged political leaders to cease disrupting Moi's retirement.

He told them to stop their frequent visits and the ongoing debate regarding Ruto's failed attempt to meet the retired head of state, terming them as a disturbance to the man who held the nation's most powerful leadership post for slightly over 24 years.

"People should stop disturbing the retired President. We cannot have politicians heading to his home after every few days. He has had his share of the nation's leadership and should now be allowed to rest," he said.

Ruto's Thursday visit has since elicited mixed reactions, with a section of politicians, especially those allied to him, channelling their blames to Moi's son and Baringo Senator Gideon Moi for allegedly blockig the meeting.

His visit succeeded an earlier meeting between Moi and opposition leader Raila Odinga.

With the meeting being widely observed as political, Odinga's quarters has since termed it as a friendly engagement.
