A section of Jubilee leaders has called upon Wiper Party Leader Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka to defect from the opposition following the withdrawal of National Super Alliance (NASA) Presidential Raila Amolo Odinga from the fresh election scheduled on October 26.
Speaking after the announcement, the politicians led by former Turbo MP Elisha Busienie said that Raila is misleading Kalonzo, adding that time has come for him to make a bold move following the nullification of Uhuru’s win.
The leaders said that Kalonzo should cross over in order to join Deputy President William Ruto in forming a team that will take over power come 2022.
"We know Kalonzo is a man of good deeds and a church elder. Once we re-elect [President Uhuru Kenyatta], we will welcome Kalonzo back to Jubilee and they can pair with [DP William] Ruto in 2022,” he said, as quoted by The Star.
The lawmaker was also accompanied by Nominated MP Maina Kamanda who said that the residents of Ukambani did not take part in protests. He also condemned NASA supporters for looting public property while protesting against the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).
"Let those demonstrating in Kisumu vandalize their own infrastructure. If they try to vandalize anything in Nairobi, we the Kamandas are there to protect our property," he said.
