Elders from the Kikuyu community have cautioned former Prime Minister Raila Odinga against advocating for the implementation of the Truth, Justice and Reconciliation Commission (TJRC) report.

According to the elders, the implementation of the report has come at the wrong time since it is likely to propagate ethnic hatred between the Kikuyu and Maasai community as the next general election draws closer.

They argued that the Cord leader wants to use the report for his political gain as he looks forward to unseat President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto.

"The Kikuyu community resolves that we will not tolerate any acts or utterances that could lead to bloodshed and destruction of life and property. We urge all Kenyans to reject incitement to violence for political reasons," the councils' chairman said, as quoted by Tuko.

The opposition under the leadership of Raila Odinga has been lashing out at the national government for doing little to ensure that the TJRC report is implemented.

The warning of the elders came after Raila asked the Head of State to oversee the implementation of the report during the burial of John Keen.

The opposition leader also mentioned the report at the late Ole Ntimama's funeral.
