Kisii County Lands CeC Moses Onderi has asked the business community to calm down as the government looks into their issues over an eviction notice aimed at transferring them.
Speaking on Tuesday while addressing them, Onderi promised to give a proper communication on the matter by the end of this week, after making wide consultations with Governor James Ongwae.
“I ask tolerance from you and I promise that by Friday, I will have met the governor so that we can discuss your issues. Thereafter, I will communicate to you on the same,” he promised.
According to Jane Omwamba, one of the businesspersons who demonstrated at the county offices, the government wants to grab the market land.
She said they the county government served them with a vacation notice on Monday, that they would be transferred to a new place where they would conduct their business.
Another complainant, Kerubo Osano, argued that the new destination would not fetch them high income comparing to the current destination, therefore asking the government to revert its decision.
“The new place is not as good as where we are operating our business at the moment. We ask the government to consider that and leave us in the market because this is where our customers can get us easily,” she argued.
