Mwingi Central MP Joe Mutambu has called upon Wiper Chairman David Musila to defect early in order to avoid being locked out of the gubernatorial race during the next general elections.

Mutambu’s remarks come after Musila accused Kalonzo of favoring incumbent Dr Julius Malombe after the latter declared to defend his seat.

A few weeks ago, Kalonzo urged Musila to shelve his governorship bid and back Malombe’s re-election, which the chairman did not agree with.

Speaking in Mwingi East during a voter registration drive, Mutambu asked the Senator to switch gears in good time if at all he really means what he says. “I have heard Musila call for Governor Malombe to challenge him in a 100 meter race since Malombe says Musila is old.

I want to urge him to use his experience in the race and run as quickly as he can to leave Wiper party for the incumbent governor,” Mutambu said, as quoted by the Star.

According to Mutambu, parting ways with Kalonzo is the only way he can remain in the political arena for more years. On his part, Musila has affirmed that he will be on the ballot box whether Kalonzo likes it or not.
