A lecturer and social justice activist has been arrested and charged for allegedly insulting Uganda President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.

University lecturer Stella Nyanzi was charged on Monday in a Kampala court after being arrested for making an ‘Obsene or indecent’ remark towards the First Family.

According to the prosecution, the accused on January 28 posted a comment on his facebook page that referred to the President as a ‘pair of buttocks’.

"Dr Stella Nyanzi has been charged with cyber-harassment and offensive communication (and) using her Facebook posts to disturb President Museveni's privacy, which she denies," her lawyer Nicholas Opiyo said.

The alleged Facebook post read: "That is what buttocks do. They shake, jiggle, shit and fart. Museveni is just another pair of buttocks... Ugandans should be shocked that we allowed these buttocks to continue leading our country."

The academician thrust to the limelight after she held a ‘nude protest’ against her bosses in the university for locking her out of her office.

She has become a mark that uses the powerful sex to protest injustices.
