University lecturers have maintained that they will not resume duty until the government implements their Collective Bargaining Agreement in full.

Speaking on Thursday shortly after the treasury approved Sh5.3 billion for the striking lecturers, UASU secretary general Constantine Wasonga asserted that the release of the funds is not a guarantee that they will call off the strike.

He pointed out that the dons have at least three 'irreducible minimums' that they want addressed before agreeing to return to work.

"Salaries and house allowances must be enhanced as per the negotiated CBA plus the arrears from July to date," he said.

"All internal CBAs must be negotiated, signed, registered and implemented and we must jump-start negotiations for 2017-21 CBA," he added.

The lecturers have been on strike for more than three weeks, demanding for the implementation of a CBA signed between the union and the government in March.
